Cable Duct Work on Riverside Road

from Monday 11th September for two weeks

National Grid have informed us that from Monday 11th September their contractor, Laing O’Rourke, will be installing cable ducts in Riverside Road as part of their work to upgrade the existing substation. This work will result in the temporary suspension of a number of parking bays on Riverside Road.  The work is expected to take two weeks and will be carried out from 7pm to 7am, Monday to Friday, in order to minimise disruption.

The substation has been in operation since the 1930s and needs modernising to increase capacity and maintain reliability. The rise in energy demand in the capital, particularly in South West London, has made this work necessary.

We have been promised that every effort will be made to keep disruption to a minimum. The area and businesses mostly affected will be near the National Grid entrance. If your business is expecting early deliveries, it might be best to use the Rosemary Road gate and not the main Riverside Road gate.
