BIDs (Business Improvement Districts) are designated areas within which all businesses pay an additional levy for the maintenance, development and promotion of their district, based on the rateable value of their individual business unit.

This will be collected by the Council and then paid over to the management company.

It ensures that the costs of maintaining, improving and managing of the estate (BID area) will be evenly and fairly spread.

Our first BID commenced in April 2009 (BID1) and was voted in with a very large majority of over 90% in December 2008. This enabled us to make major improvements to the estate, deal with security issues and implement maintenance schedules.

Our second BID commenced in April 2014 (BID2) and again was accepted by a majority of over 90% in December 2013. We continued to improve the infrastructure, roads, lights, gates, drains and CCTV plus introduced fibre optic Broadband taking advantage of government grants, improving on speed and reliability of the internet service.

We are now getting ready for BID3. BIDs need to be renewed every 5 years, which gives the Business Community the opportunity to take a fresh look at the achievements and the detailed BID rules. Although we have come a long way, we need funds for the ongoing maintenance and management of the estate. We are lucky that our estate is very popular with owners and tenants alike, but that has clearly happened on the back of investment into the fabric of the estate, its security and an efficient, cost effective management.

The BID3 brochure will be published at the beginning of 2018.

Voting will start in November 2018.
